Mission at Outside In School

Understanding What is Right
Choosing What is Best

Understanding what is right is the first step toward the abundant life. It requires the hard work of developing awareness - getting to know God, others, and ourselves. Choosing what is best demands vigilance toward excellence in all we say and do. Our hope is life to the fullest, for ourselves as men and women seeking opportunities to serve, and for youth and families seeking life-changing opportunities to grow.

This vision presents life as a gift to be received with gratitude and freely enjoyed. Life is, at the same time, a gift that demands a response. We are all called to pursue good works and new ways of living together in harmony.

Life to the Fullest!

From the beginning, Outside In School of Experiential Education, Inc. has been all about living life to the fullest. Embrace the adversity that each day presents and overcome it! Rise above the mundane concerns that so easily beset us. Dare to imagine bold new ways to being and strive for excellence in all things! Our vision is lofty indeed, proclaiming that joy does not derive from circumstances but from the attitude of the heart. The fullness of life is experienced with each step of the journey as we seek to bring out the very best in ourselves and in each other.

MISSION

  • LEADing families on a new path to a better future!

PURPOSE

  • Who We Are: Outside In is a not-for-profit agency that helps and guides troubled teenagers to acquire new skills and positive attitudes.

  • What We Do: Outside In creates an experience-based environment with traditional values, appropriate role models and activity-intensive opportunities.

  • Results hoped for: Development of integrity, responsibility for one's actions
and healthy family and community relationships

VALUES

  • Life to the fullest! We physically and mentally challenge students and ourselves to go above and beyond what is required.

  • Excellence by example! We model high standards in integrity, responsibility for one’s actions, work ethic and caring relationships with students, parents, and co-workers. We do not ask a student or staff to do something we ourselves wouldn't, shouldn't or couldn't do.

  • Attitude determines your altitude! We choose to be positive and learn from our mistakes.

  • Do the right thing! We regularly are Framing, Facilitating, and Focusing (debriefing) to create an environment that sets goals and builds confidence and personal worth in the lives of our co-workers and teens. Whatever we ask others to do is Reasonable, Enforceable, Simple, and Clear.
